Trustee - voluntary

An opportunity has arisen for two or three individuals to join our Board of Trustees as some of our longer standing Trustees are due to stand down.  With responsibility for around 5,000 acres (approximately 25 per cent of the city) and property and financial investments of over £80m being a Trustee is a position of influence and great responsibility, now and for future generations.

The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Trust and ensuring it performs well so we need to ensure we have a Board with the right mix of experience and skills.  Above all the Board has to ensure the long-term future for the Trust and the city’s parkland.

We need Trustees who are capable, clear thinking and able to articulate their thoughts clearly.  Trustees need to act as persuasive advocates for the Trust and help uphold the Trust’s values of excellence, integrity, collaboration, valuing people and responsibility.  On this occasion we are particularly looking for people with knowledge and experience of some of the following:

  • Ecology, wildlife, biodiversity, conservation
  • Landscape design/urban design and planning
  • Marketing and communications
  • Community engagement
  • Financial investments, fund management
  • Leisure management, sport and recreation

The role of Trustee is interesting and rewarding and one in which your knowledge and skills will be harnessed to make a really positive contribution.  So, if you support our aims and are prepared to give some of your time to this important role, please get in touch.

We are particularly keen to achieve a diverse Board of Trustees  and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

How to apply

Please write, setting out your background and experience, to:

David Foster, Chief Executive, The Parks Trust, Campbell Park Pavilion, 1300 Silbury Boulevard, Milton Keynes MK9 4AD.

Email: d.foster@theparkstrust.com

Potential Trustees will be interviewed by the Chair, Deputy Chair and Chief Executive.  Applications will also be considered by the Executive Committee before recommendations are made to the full Board on any new Trustee appointments.
