MK Playday Secures £5,000 From Tesco’s Bags of Help Campaign

31 July 2017

MK Playday, the hugely popular annual free family event, is delighted to announce it has bagged £5,000 from Tesco’s Bags of Help funding scheme.

This money will be used to help ensure the 2017 MK Playday is the best yet, with some special superhero guests joining people at the event throughout the day.

MK Playday will be held on Wednesday 2nd August 2017 in Campbell Park. There will be a wide variety of activities to choose from including water slides run by MK Play Association; the Sports Zone with activities from football, rugby and cheerleading to table tennis; bug hunting with The Parks Trust; fairground rides provided by Thomas Emmett; and back again by popular demand the cycle and cinema zones.

Julie Dawes, Events & Community Engagement Manager, commented: “We’re thrilled to have received this funding from the Bags of Help scheme, and wish to say a huge thank you to all those who voted for us.

“MK Playday is an event enjoyed by thousands of people and this money will help to make sure it is better than ever. We look forward to seeing everyone on the 2nd August!”

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help funding initiative, which sees grants - raised from the 5p bag levy - being awarded to thousands of local community projects every year.

Voting ran in stores throughout May and June with customers choosing which local project they would like to get the top award using a token given to them at the check-out.
