Discover A New Skill
There’s still time to book on two fantastic adult education courses, giving you a great chance to improve your knowledge or learn a new skill. So if you’ve always wondered about that fungi growing at the bottom of your garden or contemplated having a go at hedge laying then come and ‘Discover’ with The Parks Trust.
On Saturday 20 October our ‘Discover Fungi’ course will enable you to expand your knowledge of the fascinating world of fungi. This year we have moved the course to a new location in Howe Park Wood, an amazing habitat for fungi. Justin Long, an experienced mycologist, will be taking the sessions and you can expect to learn more about identifying different types of fungi and the dangers of certain varieties. The day will include a walk through Howe Park Wood, and a series of talks on the different fungi that can be identified there.
The course costs £5 per adult and there are two time slots from 10am – 12pm or from 1pm – 3pm. Meet in Howe Park Wood, park in car park off H7 Chaffron Way, opposite the Westcroft Centre.
On Saturday 24 November our ‘Discover Hedge Laying’ course lets you learn more about the art of traditional hedge laying. This will be a practical hands on course, and the bulk of the day will be spent outdoors. The course will be led by Robin Baker, an expert hedge layer, and will include a small classroom session before the outdoor work begins. For an extra £5 you can also get a delicious soup and roll lunch, which is certainly not to be missed!
‘Discover Hedge Laying’ costs £15 per adult and will take place from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Meet at The Well, Newport Road, North Willen.
Booking is essential for both events. For further information call 01908 255379.
