Make a difference today at Linford Lakes Nature Reserve. Join us on Saturday 26th October as we host our biggest volunteering event of the year!

Over the course of the morning we aim to improve access to nature for all. Some of the tasks will include clearing the main paths and opening views from the warbler bird hide. We will also have easier tasks including sweeping boardwalks, bird hides and re-stocking the bird feeders. We welcome families to this event and there will be tasks suitable for all ages.

Make a Difference Day was established to help encourage people to take one day per year to try and make a difference in the world. If you can spare a couple of hours, to help tidy up the reserve and improve the unique mix of special habitats for the amazing wildlife found in this area, join us between 10am- 12.30pm.

Linford Lakes Nature Reserve was established as a wildfowl research centre in 1970 following decades of mineral extraction in the area. The Parks Trust, a self-financing charity, purchased the site in 2015 and the site continues to be used as a nature reserve and a base for environmental education. It is widely regarded as the most biodiverse site in Milton Keynes.

The 37-hectare site consists of a large lake, reedbeds, wet woodland and several small meadows interlaced with a number of smaller lakes and ponds. Four bird watching hides are located giving fine views of the wildlife and beautiful scenery. The lakes attract a good variety of wildfowl and passage wading birds and breeding birds include Barn Owl, Cuckoo and Common Tern.

Please come dressed for outside work, sturdy shoes/boots and come prepared for wet weather. Children aged 8 and above, must be supervised at all times. The day starts at 10am and will finish around 12.30pm.

Parking and toilets are available at Linford Lakes Education Centre, Wolverton Road, Great Linford, MK14 5AH. Light refreshments will be available and guided walk of the reserve will take place at the end of the session.
