This is a guest blog post from Kelly Hopkinson who is an experienced yoga teacher, visit her website to find out more.

The beautiful combination of yoga, mindfulness, community spirit and stunning MK natural settings provided the opportunity for magic to happen this summer. Kelly and Christine set the scene (and quite literally the stage) for anyone and everyone to experience yoga (some for the very first time) and mindfulness practices whilst enjoy the outdoors. Those who attended, from the families to the friends to those flying solo, all thoroughly enjoyed this unique opportunity provided by two passionate yoga teachers in partnership with The Park Trust and Mind BLMK.

The Yoga in the Park 2019 summer tour took in sights across Milton Keynes. Kicking off lakeside over at Furzton where the most committed of yogis refused to let a little rain stop them and instead enjoyed and laughed in amongst the spring showers. As the weather heated up, it was a delight to enjoy the canopy of shade created at the Tree Cathedral where families were also invited to join in the fun with their very own session. A true sense of community filled the atmosphere at the amphitheatre at the very heart of the city in Campbell Park. The tour concluded in the shadows of the magnificent Peace Pagoda alongside Willen Lake in the shining September sun.

Yoga in the Park was created and founded in 2018 to provide the opportunity for as many people as possible in the community of Milton Keynes to experience yoga and mindfulness and all it has to offer to support overall health and well-being. It is not all about the handstands, sitting cross-legged or clearing the mind. Instead, these events were able to show that yoga is simple, realistic and can be applied to everyday life to enhance it and allow a deeper sense of self-care, contentment and fun!

Across the summer, Yoga in the Park raised £205 for Mind BLMK to support the ongoing incredible work they do in and for the community.

There were so many smiles…

Keep an eye out for the 2020 tour!

Kelly of Kelly Hopkinson Yoga is currently busy planning the 2020 tour! Dates will be launched in January with stunning locations (including wet – Great British - weather back up plans), special guest teachers alongside Kelly, community picnics and FREE resources available to download following sessions.
