Summer Open Days at Howe Park Wood

Howe Park Wood

Tuesday 30 August (other dates available)

This event is in the past. This page is for information purposes only.

Visit Howe Park Wood during the summer holidays for our Open Days and gain access to the Education Centre. The centre is free to visit and is family-friendly for all ages, drop-in anytime between 10:00am-3:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout summer.

We will have artefacts on display such as nests, skulls and feathers, found across our different parks, nature-themed challenges, and self-guided trails. Additional charged family bug hunting sessions are also available to book in advance.

Howe Park Wood is one of the city’s jewels, a tranquil oasis, humming with wildlife and colour. As well as being home to a wide variety of wildlife, Howe Park Wood boasts more than 200 plant species, some so rare that English Nature has designated it a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its wildlife value.

There is free parking available on site, public toilets and Grounds Café for refreshments.

  • Every year The Parks Trust helps around 6,500 people to learn about their local environment through outdoor learning workshops and interactive walks and talks.
