Ever wanted to know how to whittle using natural materials? Join us on Thursday 21st March at 10am at Elfield Nature Park to find out how.

Whittling is the process of using a knife to carve shapes out of raw wood. In this introductory session you will learn the basic skills needed to be able to enjoy this relaxing craft form.

You will learn how to hold the knife correctly, optimum seating positions and how to hold your material to give you the best technique. You will then have time to put your skills to practice making items that you can take away with you.

Please note this is an adult only session.

Elfield Nature Park is a closed site that has uneven ground, steps and steep slopes. This session will involve some walking around the site and sitting on log stumps. There are no toilets at this site. Please get in touch on outdoorlearning@theparkstrust.com if you require any accessibility support or to request a hearing loop.

This event is part of our outdoor learning programme which is designed to help people learn more about their local parks and the natural environment.

Booking is required.

Elfield Nature Park is the hidden gem of Milton Keynes’ parks. A mixed landscape of woodland, grassland, scrub, ponds and ditches, the site is not normally open to the public but is very rich in flora and fauna.
