Forest School Licences

Forest School 2.jpg

Forest School is an outdoor learning experience for children offering a different approach to outdoor play and learning.

We have several sites suitable for Forest School and we have a few external licenced operators who host forest school in these areas. Whilst spaces are limited we welcome requests from groups looking to host a forest school in suitable spaces. All activities need to be assessed for safety and suitability and licenced through our licensing process. We regret we can only accept applications from schools and organisations not individuals.

Fees for commercial forest school operation are calculated per site operation at £125 + VAT per site.
Activities may also be subjected to additional conditions and all application must submit the following documentation:

  • Public liability insurance (minimum £5 indemnity)
  • Risk assessment for all activities
  • Environmental impact assessment
  • Certification for all practitioners

For information please contact our Events and Community Engagement Manager on 01908 233600 or j.dawes@theparkstrust.com.

Forest School is offered as part of our outdoor education programme, please see our Outdoor Learning pages or contact our Outdoor Learning Coordinator on outdoorlearning@theparkstrust.com for information.

Hazeley Wood was planted by Milton Keynes Development Corporation in 1991. The long-term aim was to create a mature oak woodland for the new city. After many years of being a field of trees Hazeley is finally beginning to look and feel like a woodland. But there is still a long way to go: the wood will not finally reach maturity until 2141.

    Refreshments
There are no facilities in the wood. The nearest shops are at Grange Farm, about ten minutes’ walk away, or Shenley Church End local centre or the Westcroft Centre, both of which are a few minutes' drive away.

Shenley Wood is one of three ancient woodlands in Milton Keynes, a wonderful spot for a quiet walk and to enjoy the abundant wildlife.

    Refreshments
There are no facilities on site but there is a range of pubs and shops in Shenley Church End about 10 minutes’ walk away to the east.

  • Every year we help around 6,000 people to learn about their local environment through outdoor learning sessions. The school and community groups that take advantage of Milton Keynes’ fantastic outdoor classrooms are amongst the parks’ most enthusiastic visitors.
