The Making of a New City

City Planning - Media

Let your students explore what makes Milton Keynes unique in its design and structure. These resources encourage them to find out about key features of their local area.

Students will discover the pioneering ideas behind the city's layout in 'The Making of Milton Keynes' and then get out and about exploring the area where they live as they plan a new environmentally sustainable grid square for Milton Keynes in the 'City Planning' activity.

These resources can be used as a stand-alone project or as part of a bigger unit on land use and urban planning. Why not combine this with a Parks Trust guided session on Human Geography? In this session, we can guide your students around your chosen grid square identifying the key features. Please email outdoorlearning@theparkstrust.com for more information.

Documents can be found below and are suitable for KS3 & KS4 levels.
