Youth Explorers (11-14 years old)

Youth Explorers Courses are for young people aged 11-14 years old to help them gain experience and valuable practical skills in various outdoor topics including Wildlife Identification, Bushcraft and Conservation. These courses are taught partially outdoors and partially in our outdoor learning centre. Majority of courses run on a Tuesday evening from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Linford Lakes Nature Reserve from April-October. Please see below for our upcoming courses which will be available to book soon.

  • Spring Youth Explorers 6 week evening course  (23rd April -28th May 2019)
  • Summer Youth Explorers 6 week evening course (4th June-9th July 2019)
  • John Muir Award 4 day course (23rd July- 26th July 2019, or 20th August-23rd August)
  • Autumn Youth Explorers 6 week evening course (10th Sept- 15th Oct)

These courses are taught by our friendly knowledgeable staff, and great for building confidence and meeting like-minded people in a laid back outdoor environment.

    The 37 hectare site consists of a large lake, reedbeds, wet woodland and several small meadows interlaced with a number of smaller lakes and ponds. Four bird watching hides are located giving fine views of the wildlife and beautiful scenery.

    There are no refreshment facilities at Linford Lakes Nature Reserve other than during special events.
