The Parks Trust hosts over 200 events and activities each year with the majority of events and activities taking place between April and September. These can be found in our What's on Guide.
We need volunteers to help us with the following kinds of events:
Special Events and Festivals
We are involved in a number of big events each year such as the Open Air Film Festival, World Picnic and Festival of Nature. We need help in setting up and breaking down for these events plus events stewards, organising and running activities, car parking and other tasks on the day.
Throughout the year we have a large number of walks including our annual Walking Festival and monthly Women’s Walking Network, nature walks and seasonal walks. We are always looking for back markers and co-leaders. If you have any specialist knowledge we would welcome ideas and leaders. Walk leader and first aid training available for new walking volunteers.
Parks and Run
We need volunteers to help set up runs, steward car parks and assist with back marking. First aid training id available for new Parks and Run volunteers.
Every year we hold spooky walks in the woods. We need volunteers to help decorate the woods and Education Centre, lead and/or back mark walks, manage the car park and help to scare the walkers!
We need volunteers to help set up/take down marquees and decorations, and to hand out carol sheets and What's on Guides.
Very often, our biggest need is for volunteers to help with the logistical side of events e.g. loading the van, setting up marquees and displays and breaking down at the end of events. You will receive ’on the job’ training on how to set-up and break down as well as manual handling training.
At the start of the year, we identify which events will need volunteer support and host an evening presenting volunteering event opportunities in conjunction with other organisers who need assistance at their events. Having valued volunteers is not only a benefit to the event team but adds to our visitor experience.
Opportunities are listed in our Volunteers Newsletter and also published in the Volunteer section of our website. We also contact volunteers directly if an event may be under-staffed.
We look forward to you joining the team!
