Statement on Coronavirus

Updated 5th March

In order to reduce the spread of Coronavirus and protect lives, we must all follow the Government’s guidelines in relation to COVID-19.

For the latest information, please refer to the Government website: www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Please find our latest updates below;

Use of the parks

At all times, you should observe social distancing which means staying at least 2 metres apart from other people you do not live with. You should not meet indoors with anyone not in your household or social bubble. From Monday 8th March 2021 you can visit the parks for recreation as well as exercise but only with your household or one other person. Recreation includes having a coffee on a bench or a picnic in a park – if you choose to do so please remember to take your litter home. You should minimise the time you spend outside your home, and you should not travel outside your local area.

If you feel unwell, or anyone in your household has symptoms, we ask that you please do not attend any of our parks and follow the Government advice to self-isolate.

Events and activities

Apart from our online talks, all of our events and activities are cancelled until Monday 29th March 2021. From this date when we hope some of our smaller, ticketed events and activities will be be able to resume with social distancing and Covid-19 secure measures in place (subject to change in line with government guidelines). If you have booked for an event after this date but you no longer wish to attend, please get in touch with our team on events@theparkstrust.com.

Please refer to our what’s on page for the latest updates – we will contact and refund ticket holders as soon as possible if cancellations apply.

All third party activities such as fitness groups are suspended until at least Monday 29th March March. 1-2-1 personal training sessions are still permitted under the current government guidelines.

All water based activities and clubs are suspended, as are land based club activities such as archery until Monday 29th March.

Play areas and outdoor gym equipment

Play areas have remained open under the latest lockdown restrictions. Our Outdoor Gym Equipment will be available for use from 29th March subject to government guidance. Find out more here.

Our work and our staff

The majority of our landscape maintenance work can continue as planned with some additional safety measures in place. We continue to follow the latest government advice regarding safe working practices.

Our Volunteers

Our volunteering programme is largely suspended but some roles such as Rangers and Wardens can continue as long as the Government restrictions are followed. We ask these individuals only to continue volunteering with us if they feel safe to do so, they are not in the extremely clinically extremely vulnerable group and they are not having to self-isolate.

Subject to changes government guidelines, some group volunteering tasks will return in April 2021 for those who wish to participate.

Please note we are not recruiting new volunteers at this time. Any other enquiries relating to volunteering can be sent to volunteering@theparkstrust.com.

We will continue to follow latest government advice and will update our statements and website as soon as we know more.  In the meantime, please keep safe.
