Outdoor Learning Volunteers

Our Outdoor Learning team deliver our environmental education programme through a range of sessions, events, talks and activities. They are supported by volunteers from a variety of roles and are currently looking for new volunteers to help with the following:

Education Centre Ambassadors:

Education Centre Ambassadors help us deliver open mornings during the school holidays at our Education Centre at Howe Park Wood (also Linford Lakes once refurbishments are complete). The main aspects of their role include:

  • Deliver our Open Mornings at Howe Park Wood Education Centre
  • Support activities at the open mornings
  • Be an advocate for and share key messages about The Parks Trust and Howe Park Wood

Open mornings operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during school holidays from 9:30am- 3:30pm though volunteers will also be asked to support with set up a pack down.

Youth Ranger Volunteer:

Youth Rangers is our youth group for 14-17 year olds. They meet once a month on a Saturday. The sessions are led by a staff member of the Outdoor Learning Team and supported by a volunteer as the Youth Rangers attend without a parent or guardian, so we must have 2 adults present. Youth Rangers do practical tasks such as scrub clearance, tree planting and building hedgehog tunnels as well as wildlife identification and surveying. You would need to be able to support them with these tasks.

The commitment would be from 09:00-13:00 one Saturday per month (usually the 3rd Saturday of the month). The location varies each month.
