River Deep, Mountain High

In the River Deep, Mountain High Geography sessions students take part in games and activities to demonstrate the formation of a river and the key features found along the stretch of river that you choose to explore. Depending on the site, this can include identifying examples of erosion, deposition, obstacles and flood prevention features. Students can conduct experiments to measure river flow rate and depth to enable students to draw an accurate cross sectional diagram of the river bed. Suitable for Key stage 3 and 4.
How does this session link to the National Curriculum?
Key Stage 3 - Physical geography relating to hydrology.
Key Stage 4 - Resources and their management - recognising the changing characteristics and distribution of demand and supply, past and present impacts of human intervention, and issues related to their sustainable use and management at a variety of scales.
