The Parks Trust Access Ambassadors shortlisted for national disability award

Published: 12/02/2026

We're excited to share the news that our volunteer Access Ambassadors have been announced this week as finalists in the Community Group category of this year’s Scope Awards.

The Scope Awards celebrate those who are working to end disability inequality, amplifying disabled voices and building a movement of change.

As a diverse panel of individuals with personal experiences of disability or caring for loved ones with disabilities, the Trust’s Access Ambassadors volunteer their time to help advise us on making Milton Keynes’ parks more accessible. Their work has aided improvements to park infrastructure, signage, and event planning, and they’ve co-designed solutions such as wheelchair-friendly benches and handrails.

The Access Ambassador’s creative ideas and lived experience are driving positive change for all disabled people and championing better access to the outdoors for everyone.

We’re so proud to see this incredible group of people recognised in these inspiring awards! Our Access Ambassadors initiative gives our team amazing support and advice to improve Milton Keynes’ parks, and through important collaborations we’re also helping to set the direction for what accessible green spaces should look like at a national level.
