Wetland Arc Project: Community Tree Planting
Help the environment by planting trees with us at Old Wolverton.
Celebrating the Launch of the Wetland Arc Project, why not get involved in tree planting to create a wood meadow in Old Wolverton? Leave your legacy and help us protect the environment by increasing biodiversity and enhancing this grazing field to become climate resilient.
You'll be helping us for a session of planting native trees, enhancing our park's beauty and boosting local wildlife habitats. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm.
Meeting Location: The field behind Holy Trinity Church, Old Wolverton (nearest postcode: MK12 5NH) - a map will be sent to you a few days before the event. Look for the purple Parks Trust flags on the day
What3Words location: tickles.leopard.revamping
Car parking:
- Holy Trinity Church - ///amazed.wider.headache
- Manor Farm - ///bunks.cliff.towels (15 minute walk)
- Ouse Valley - ///submerge.aura.bedrooms (only a small car park)
Please respect our neighbours by parking considerately.
The site is 600 metres from the nearest bus stop (Number 4 or 6) on Stratford Road, and bicycles can be kept at the field during your planting activity.
What do you need to bring?
- Gardening gloves (if you prefer to wear your own, otherwise gloves will be available to borrow on the day)
- Suitable clothing including sturdy boots or shoes – the park is likely to be very wet at this time of year
- Drink and a snack
Accessibility: Please note that the planting meadow is down a hill and depending on which direction you arrive from, one route is a grass path on a long, medium slope, and the other is a paved path on a short, steep slope. The planting will take place on rough grassland which will have holes and bumps, and is likely to be muddy at this time of year. We would love to make these sessions enjoyable for all, so please do get in touch to discuss any accessibility requirements by emailing wetlandarc@theparkstrust.com. A hearing loop is available on request.
Other useful information:
- The nearest toilets are at Tesco Wolverton.
- We welcome participants of all ages on this activity but young people attending must be supervised at all times.
- You don't have to stay for the full session - so please come along for as long as you'd like.
