Celebrate Volunteers' Week with The Parks Trust!
Published: 27/05/2026
Everyone’s invited to celebrate Volunteers’ Week (1–7 June 2026) and get involved in hands-on volunteering across the city this summer.
We are inviting local residents to take part in a range of engaging outdoor volunteering events across Milton Keynes. People of all ages and abilities are invited to try volunteering through a variety of sessions.
Community Volunteering
Roll up your sleeves for Himalayan Balsam Bashing on Wednesday 3, Saturday 6 & Wednesday 10 June. Participants will help us protect native plants and wildlife from the pretty but pesky plant that’s invading the riversides through Loughton Valley.
At Meadow Makers on Saturday 25 July you could help give hogweed the heave-ho. This’ll boost native species in the wildflower meadows of Campbell Park, perfect for pollinators like bees and butterflies!
Get hands-on at the Orchard Haven Build on Saturday 8 August. This session will construct essential hibernacula and bug hotels to provide safe and cosy winter homes for wildlife like hedgehogs, amphibians, reptiles and insects.
Plus, every month there’s a Community Litter Pick for families and individuals to contribute towards a cleaner and more beautiful environment. By actively participating in these litter picks, volunteers can help combat litter and instil a sense of pride across Milton Keynes’ parks.
Volunteers' Week Event
Volunteers’ Week (1–7 June 2026) is a national campaign recognising the incredible contribution volunteers make to communities across the UK, while also inspiring more people to give their time and skills to worthwhile causes.
In Milton Keynes, local organisations are teaming up for a Volunteers’ Week Celebration event on Wednesday 3 June, 4-6pm at MK Rose in Campbell Park. It’s open to everyone and free to attend.
Our Volunteers
We also want to say a huge thank you to our 240 amazing volunteers, each bringing unique skills, knowledge, and passion to their role in caring for the city’s parks. Volunteer rangers and wardens play a vital role in helping to keep the parks clean and safe, while wildlife surveyors contribute valuable data for conservation efforts. Outdoor learning and events volunteers engage with the community through educational sessions, events and recreation, while the practical conservation team supports habitat creation.
Get outdoors, help the environment, keep active and meet new people at our community volunteering tasks across Milton Keynes.
