With so many parks to choose from, we've pulled together our top picks to help you plan the perfect family day out.
Willen Lake – best for a full day out
Willen Lake is the go-to destination for families who want to make a proper day of it. Willen Lake South is the livelier of the two, with a splash park, high ropes course, adventure golf, pedaloes, a bouncy castle, play areas and café facilities, while Willen Lake North offers quieter walking and wildlife watching for those who’d rather take things at a slower pace.
Campbell Park – best for open space and events
One of Milton Keynes' best-loved parks, Campbell Park offers wide open green space, public art and a year-round programme of events – from cultural celebrations to family festivals. The park is well-connected to the redway network and has its own off-road cycle trail.
Howe Park Wood – best for nature and exploration
For families who love to explore, Howe Park Wood is something special. One of Milton Keynes' ancient woodlands, it's a brilliant place to discover wildlife, follow winding paths through the trees and join in seasonal nature activities run by our outdoor learning team.
Shenley Wood – best for a new kind of adventure
Shenley Wood has something new this summer – a brand-new Sound Trail, which takes you on a sensory journey through the woodland. It's a brilliant option for curious kids and families who want something a little different from a standard walk in the woods.
Stanton Low Park – best for younger children
Stanton Low Park is a quieter, more local feel park with a great play area and countryside views – ideal if you're after a relaxed morning out with younger kids without the bustle of the bigger parks.
Ouzel Valley Park – best for a quieter day out
If you'd rather avoid the busier spots, Ouzel Valley Park offers peaceful river and meadow walking with plenty of room to roam. It's ideal for families who want to slow down, spot wildlife and enjoy the outdoors without the crowds. This area is managed with the help of grazing animals so you may spot cows and sheep as you explore.

Good to know before you visit
Parking: Most of our parks have free car parking nearby. Please note that Willen Lake and Furzton Lake car parks have parking charges.
Facilities: Some of our parks have café and toilet facilities – this varies by location. Check individual park pages for details. Cafés and food outlets are run by independent businesses, so opening hours can vary.
Accessibility: Many of our parks have accessible paths suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. See our accessibility page for more detail.
Dogs: Dogs are welcome in our parks. Please keep them on a lead around livestock, in ancient woodlands and near play areas.
