Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

We strive to create one inclusive team. We celebrate diversity and embrace variety of thought, preferences, personalities, cultures and abilities. We commit to being an anti-racist organisation and to removing barriers that perpetuate discriminatory behaviours. We commit to these values and principles both internally and for the communities that we serve externally.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Working Group

In 2023, an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Working Group was set up at The Parks Trust. Fifteen staff members from across the organisation began discussions about The Trust’s EDI journey – looking at what was going well, what needed improving, and what opportunities there were to make the organisation as inclusive and representative as possible.

Together, the group came up with an Action Plan, detailing projects large and small, and got to work! While continuing to meet quarterly as an entire Working Group, the team has also split off into smaller Focus Groups, whose aim is to come up with ideas, tackle smaller projects and feed into the larger group to drive change. A calendar of inclusive events and celebrations has been also created, that allows the group to share important dates both internally and externally.

While we recognise that this is a continual journey with plenty of opportunities to improve, we have already made changes along the way. Read on to find out what the EDI Working Group has achieved so far!
