Practical Tasks

We have a fantastic programme of activities in which we would like to invite members of the community to get involved in to help keep our parks rich with wildlife and beautiful for all to enjoy.

We have a range of practical tasks across various parks to get involved in. It's a great way to get outdoors, help the environment, keep active and meet new people. Check out our upcoming tasks below and see how you can help make a difference.

Please note that some tasks are only suitable for adults and any children attending other sessions must be supervised by an accompanying adult at all times. We also ask that you do not bring dogs along to these sessions (with the exception of service dogs).

Tools and equipment will be provided at each session and will be lead by a member of staff. Please come dressed appropriately (ready to get a little mucky) and wearing sturdy footwear.

Litter Picks

We also offer a programme of monthly Community Litter Picks, visiting a different park each month. We also support a volunteer-lead litter pick at Broughton and Brooklands on the 2nd Sunday of each month.

Unfortunately the battle against litter continues in our parks and costs the Trust hundreds of thousands of pounds each year to keep our spaces clean and safe. We are please to be supported by lots of keen groups who help carry out litter picks in our parks but know that individuals would often like to help, so we offer these Community Litter Picks where we provide the equipment, make sure everyone is safe and take away all the rubbish collected for proper disposal at the end.

Booking is not necessary to attend these litter picks, just turn up in time for the safety briefing at the start. Please ensure children are supervised at all times.

If you are interested in holding your own litter pick for a community group or other organisation, then please see our page on Hosting a Litter Pick in our Parks.

  • Litter in the Parks

The cost of removing litter from across Milton Keynes' green space is enormous, it already costs us over £400,000 a year.
