    Outdoor Learning Leader

    (Leading in Primary and Pre-School Age Delivery)

    This is an exciting opportunity to inspire people to learn about The Parks Trust and the natural environment through a range of outdoor learning activities

    REMUNERATION

    Up to £23,000 per annum (dependent on experience) plus benefits

    37.5 hours per week

    KEY

    OBJECTIVES

    To increase awareness of the parks, raise the Trust’s profile and enhance its reputation

    To deliver the Outdoor Learning programme in accordance with the Outdoor Learning Strategy

    To successfully promote greater understanding and awareness of the natural environment and greater respect and appreciation of the Trust’s green estate across Milton Keynes

    DUTIES  

    Prepare and deliver high quality sessions, workshops, talks, presentations and guided walks on environmental themes to schools, adults and community groups in accordance with the Trust’s Outdoor Learning Strategy; during weekdays, evenings and weekends

    Develop and lead in delivering Primary and Pre-School sessions

    Liaise effectively with Primary and Pre-Schools/organisations to organise and promote ODL activities and The Parks Trust

    Monitor, report on and help evaluate area of responsibility

    Support the Outdoor Learning (ODL) team with the development of wider environmental education programmes and resources

    Represent and promote the Trust at external and internal events, and be an effective advocate for the organisation and promoter of The Parks Trust’s messages

    Contribute to all areas of the work of the Community Team

    Make effective use of volunteers in delivering Outdoor Learning programmes

    EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

    Essential

    Valid DBS registered with the online update service or be prepared to apply for a new DBS

    Excellent communication and team working skills

    Ability to explain ideas and enthuse others, particularly young people

    A keen interest in and very good knowledge of the natural environment

    Confident and positive approach to working with people of all ages from different backgrounds

    Flexible and adaptable

    A passion for working outdoors and learning new skills

    A full driving licence

     

    Desirable

    Experience of working with children and the general public

    Experience of delivering training/teaching/working with children

    Some knowledge of the national curriculum and understanding of how Environmental Education fits within it

    A good understanding of health and safety and risk assessments

    IT literate
